Lawrence "Larry" Richard Donaldson
November 22, 1947 - April 8, 2021

Lawrence “Larry” Richard Donaldson left us unexpectedly on April 8, 2021.  His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his health challenges, and ultimately gave him peace and helped him live life to the fullest.  Larry was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 22, 1947 to the late Robert and Evelyn Donaldson.  After graduating from James Campbell High School, (Ewa Beach, HI), he enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and began his 20 year career.  Throughout his career in the Navy, he visited dozens of countries, including Vietnam, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Thailand and countless others.  During his time in the US Navy, he also met the love of his life, Marsha, in San Diego.  He and Marsha started a family having two children, Chris and Leslie.  After retiring from the Navy in 1986, he began working with his father in the family business (B&L Air Conditioning Services).  He ultimately took over the business from his father and was a member of RSES (Refrigeration Service Engineering Society).  As a member, he traveled throughout the United States and later became International President of the organization.  He retired from the business in May 2012.  During retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, going to the movies, volunteering at the church and watching his Dallas Cowboys. Larry is survived by his son Chris (Amber) Donaldson; daughter, Leslie (Keith) Raimundo; his brothers, David (June) Donaldson and Pat (Marybeth) Donaldson; sister, Barbara (Fritz) Frase; grandchildren, Logan (Kailee) Evans, Morgan and Katy Donaldson; nieces, Amy, Kristi, Melissa, MaryJane and nephews, Fritzie and Ted.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Donaldson; father, Robert Donaldson and mother, Evelyn Donaldson.  Viewing will be held at Dudley Funeral Home, 1108 N. Dixie Freeway (US1), New Smyrna Beach from 2 PM until 4 PM on Thursday, April 15, 2021.  Military honors will be at 4 PM by members of the American Legion Post #285, Edgewater followed by funeral service with Rev. Sonny Gallman and Rev. Pat Donaldson, officiating.  A reception will follow at Ruthy’s Cozy Kitchen, 618 Canal St., New Smyrna Beach.  To continue his tradition of generosity and helping others, the family asks in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to Central Baptist Church, Daytona Beach – Youth Ministry, to support summer camps, or a charity of choice in Larry’s name.
