William J. Flynn
October 25, 1922 - December 24, 2017



William J. Flynn, 95, Port Orange, former Edgewater resident, died Sunday, December 24, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Flynn was born in Medford, MA and moved to Edgewater in 1990 from Ft. Lauderdale before moving to Port Orange in 2014.  He was a retired U. S. Air Force Chief Warrant Officer and veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.  During his 20 year military career, he served in Europe during WW II, in Japan during the Occupation and participated in the Berlin Airlift.  After completing his military career, he entered Civil Service, completing another 20 years during which time he spent eight years in various administrative positions at the Pentagon.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #17, both in New Smyrna Beach and the Elks Lodge #1557, Edgewater.  Survivors include his wife, Evelyn L.; son, William J. (Rita) Flynn, Jr.; daughters, Diane and Donna Flynn; step son, Robert (Jane) Baker; step daughters, Barbara Sanchez and Janet Austin; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  Funeral Service will be 2 PM Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at Dudley Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach with a priest from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiating.  Visitation will be from 1 PM until the service time Saturday.  Private cremains burial will be in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery, Edgewater.
