Jaime Augusto Morales, 84, Edgewater, died Thursday, August 3, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Morales, a U S Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Edgewater in 1990 from Middletown, NJ. He was a door to door salesman in his younger years and then became an entrepreneur by building and owning several grocery and delicatessen stores (bodegas) in Long Island, NY. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. In his commitment to help others, he, as a volunteer, managed the Alcoholics Anonymous Crisis Hotline in the Daytona Beach area. Survivors include three sons, James Anthony Morales of Tucson, AZ, Robert Joseph Morales of Gainesville and Peter Thomas Morales of Edgewater; two daughters, Linda Morales of Coconut Creek and Laurie Morales of Brooklyn, NY; two sisters, Elsa Lopez and Elisa Gorra, both of Edgewater; ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Alice L. Morales. Visitation will be from 5PM until 8PM with a Wake service at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Dudley Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 PM Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. Burial will follow in Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.
